Compare stocks
What is the Compare tool?
Compare plots the performance of several stocks or ETFs on a single normalized chart. Every series starts at the same base value on the first common trading day, so you judge relative strength rather than raw share price. A 300 dollar stock and a 30 dollar stock become directly comparable.
How to read the chart
Lines that finish higher outperformed over the selected period; the vertical gap between two lines at any date is the difference in percent return since the start. Steep divergence marks a change in leadership, while lines that move together show highly correlated holdings. Use the period selector to test whether a pattern holds over one month, a year or longer.
How it is calculated
Each symbol uses daily closing prices. Only dates where every selected symbol has real data are shown, so no missing history is filled in and the normalization base is never distorted. Percent change is measured from the first shared date.
Frequently asked questions
How many symbols can I compare?
Add several tickers at once; the chart rescales so every line stays readable.
Why does the chart start later than I expected?
The chart begins on the first date when all selected symbols have data, so a recently listed stock shortens the shared window.
